At CrossFit Wooster, we love the Open—not because it’s about who’s the fittest, but because it brings out the best in people. It’s three weeks of workouts that push you just outside your comfort zone, in the best way possible. And the best part? You don’t have to be “ready” to do it. You just have to show up.


So, What Exactly is the CrossFit Open?

Imagine a workout that thousands of people across the world are doing at the exact same time, all logging their scores, all testing their fitness against themselves and their gym buddies. That’s the Open in a nutshell.

Each week for three weeks, CrossFit HQ releases one workout. You come into the gym, throw down with your community, and see what you can do. There are different options for every fitness level—Rx (advanced), scaled (modified), and even beginner-friendly versions. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, there’s a way to participate.

The CrossFit Wooster Intramural Open: More Than Just a Workout

At CrossFit Wooster, we take the Open to the next level with our Intramural Open, where we divide our athletes into four teams, each led by a coach captain. This makes the Open more than just a personal challenge—it’s a friendly, community-driven competition where participation, effort, and team spirit all count.

Here’s how it works:

  • Every member is drafted onto a team–we include everyone!
  • Points are earned not just for performance, but also for participation, spirit, and cheering on your teammates.
  • We have a theme each week: Wear your favorite sports team, dress as your favorite movie character, and then dress in green for St. Patty’s Day make each week more exciting.
  • Whether you Rx, scale, or just show up and give it your best, your effort matters.

At the end of the Open, we celebrate the team that brought the most energy, consistency, and camaraderie—but the real win is seeing what everyone accomplishes along the way.
